travel from Lourdes to rome on July 18, 2010 or if necesary July 17

What is the best way for one way travel from lourdes, France to Rome and one way from Rome to Paris.
We always buy a railpass from Rick Steves but with limited time, I am sure if that is the best way to go. How long will it take from Lourdes to Rome and should we fly from Rome to Paris? We only have from the 18th to the 28th of July before flying home.

Thank you,

Ellen Martin

According to the timetables at www.bahn.de, the fastest train route is Lourdes-Toulouse-Perpignan-Milano-Roma and it takes 21 hours. The Perpignan-Milano leg is a night train.

Flying from any airport relatively close to Lourdes would require connections and would be very expensive.

If you book well in advance and get discount fares, both your fastest and cheapest route would be to take the train to Paris and fly from there to Rome. Vueling flies Orly-Fiumicino and easyJet flies Orly-Ciampino.

For Rome-Paris you could take the direct night train or you could fly Vueling or easyJet.
