Think my question better fits here, so I'm reposting it. After a trip to England in the spring, I'm meeting my husband in Scandinavia and travelling for a couple of weeks. Three questions: Is it easier to get from London to Denmark or to Sweden? What is the most cost-effective way to make this trip? Any car rental experience in either country?
Thanks everyone!
With budget airlines, prices will be close to the same - - under a hundred bucks if bought early and you read the fine print. Car rentals out of Stockholm seem to generally be about half of what they are from Copenhagen.
I'd agree with Ed. You can get flights into each country for about the same fees. Rental cars in Copenhagen are far more expensive and heck, it costs about 40€ just to cross the bridge from Copenhagen to Sweden! Rent your car here and don't wait until you get overseas. Living in Denmark, we found it far more expensive than Sweden and sometimes went to Malmö (by train) to shop - or visit friends - and our money went further there.
That's good information, Ron. We've always rented a car in Sweden and returned it at Malmo before departing out of the Copenhagen airport. We had thought this year we would just get the car at the Copenhagen airport, but perhaps we will reconsider and pick it up in Malmo.
