Travel from London to Normandy, FR

What is the best way to get from London to Normandy? We are four seniors who will be spending a week, +/- in the UK, then another week, +/- in Normandy then returning to London for the return flight home. Thanks, Don

Take the Eurostar to Paris, then a train to Caen. Fetch your rental car across the street from the Caen railroad station and drive 15 miles to Bayeux. All of Normandy is easy to reach with a rental car and very easy to drive there. Mont St. Michel is about two hours or so from Bayeux by four-lane motorway. We've also spent a night in Portsmouth, or two, to take in the naval history there and taken the ferry across to Caen where we fetch our car. We have stayed in Bayeux and in a rural B&B about 10 miles from Bayeux, just outside Villers-Bocage. WE prefer the B&B and they have a separate house for rent for a party of four. Check out www.bandbnormandie.com or the Churchill Hotel in Bayeux. Even though we had our rental car, we took a full D Day tour and then returned to spend another full day visiting spots where we were rushed thru on the tour. The American Cemetery above Omaha requires about 4 hours and is very moving. Drifting along the back roads of Normandy is one of our favorite things to do, buying cheeses, meats, and Calvados in the little towns for a picnic along the way.
