Could someone please tell me how long it will take to travel from the airport to Rome. We had planned to take the train and then a cab to our hotel. I have read that Rome Cab will meet you at the airport and the cost is 45€. Is this a good alternative to the train? Nancy
This posting from Ron in Rome should tell you everything you need to know. http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/arriving-in-rome-fiumicino-fco Of course the time involved depends to a degree where your hotel is located....
Nancy, One point to consider is that if your flight arrives in the middle of the day, traffic could be somewhat "busy" so your Taxi ride could take somewhat longer than expected. Therefore, it's difficult to answer you question on "how long it will take". The Leonardo Express is a more predictable travel method, and the travel time on that is an easy 30-minutes. You can buy tickets at the airport, but don't forget to validate! The Express arrives at Track 25, which is at the far end of the station. If you walk straight ahead and out the front doors, there will be lots of Taxi's there for transport to the Hotel. Which part of Rome is your Hotel located? Happy travels!
From the Leonadro Express in Rome Termini, you can get to the front of the station more quickly if you stay at the lower level and use the moving walkways. The 10-min walk can be closer to 5-min. At the end of the walkways just take the escalator up to the ground floor and catch a cab out front.
Romecabs is an excellent alternative particularly if budget isn't an issue or if your luggage is as there are no porters in Italian train stations. Romecabs has good cars and vans and English speaking drivers. Very reliable.
