Travel from Lauterbruenn to Camogli

Good afternoon everyone
We are spending some time in Lauterbrunnen and then hoping to take a train to Camogli. I’m not seeing a lot of trains that go from Lauterbrunnen to Camogli. Has anyone purchase tickets on Rome2rio? They do have a train that starts in Spiez which looks like a train ride from Lauterbrunnen. I do see some others, but they are so late in the day. Do you think we should split up the train ride? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

I think finding a good intermediate stop is a good idea. I am not familiar with Camogli (in Italy near Genoa?). However, if that is your destination from Lauterbrunnen you will go to Interlaken, and then to Spiez and then to Brig and then through the Alps to Italy. Try picking your obvious intermediate stations as a way to determine your best route and timing. Try sbb.ch for the Swiss rail network. Sbb shows it is an hour for Lauterbrunnen to Spiez and 7 1/2 hours from Spiez to Milan Central. and additional time to Camogli. I always book directly with the main railroad operator (SBB) rather than with a third party site like Rome2Rio.

You can buy this ticket on SBB: www.sbb.ch
You can also just buy this ticket at the station in Lauterbrunnen. But buying in advance may be somewhat cheaper.

And you do not need to split this in parts. You can book end to end Lauterbrunnen to Camogli-S. Fruttuoso.

The fact that Rome2Rio does not show you that tells you enough...

Starting June 9, there will be a rail construction project in Italy between Stresa and Arona, which means you will have to take a train replacement bus between the two, and that will slow down the trip. Plan on a full day to get from Lauterbrunnen to Camogli. You could also go via Luzern, which could be quite scenic, especially if you take the Gotthard panoramic route.

We did that journey in 2018 and decided for sanity to take a three night break in Stresa. It is a long day (7-10 hours) with several train changes unless you take a break. Even a one night break will make a difference and one can do worse than Stresa.
