We will be spending 1 week in Lake Como and then would like to go to and stay in Chioggia, a part of Venice for a few days. This would be our home base and also allow for a day trip to Venice. Would travel by train be the best option and how long would the trip be?
Hi Geri. Train is a good way to go. Suggest you use site trenitalia.com. (If your date is beyond early June, use a closer date to see full info.) Chioggia is accessible by rail but not on the main line, so your trip will involve changes. First leg will likely be to Milan, then several routes from there. Some of the legs will be on a regional (Ordinario) train; do not buy these tix in advance, buy them in Italy. The leg from Milan will likely be on a fast train; this leg you can buy in advance ('mini' price vs 'base') for a discount if willing to lock in a date and time; but discounts don't look large, if it were me I would buy entire trip in Italy. Enjoy your trip!
Thanks Bob, that helps a lot. We'll plan to do that as you advised.
