travel from Inishmor to Shannon Airport..

My daughter and her friend are staying for two nights on the Aran Island of Inishmor . They would like to see the Cliffs of Moher on the way back via ferry and then on to the Shannon Airport. Suggestions for how this may be accomplished in a timely manner so that they may catch a 5:25 pm flight to Edinburgh. They do not have a car.

That depends totally on what time the returning ferry arrives and where. They need to find out what time the ferry arrives. If they arriving into Doolin, they can probably get bus from Doolin to Shannon, and then one to the airport. Check bus schedules at www.buseireann.ie. I drive, so I don't know the timing if you are taking the bus. Worst case, they might get a taxi from Doolin to Shannon airport, but it might be pricey.

Thanks for these suggestions...We know that the ferry from the island to Doolin can be tricky with time etc.

Without knowing when the ferry arrives, there is no way to advise on a "timely manner" to the airport by 4:00 (time for check-in and security).

Thanks they will check on Ferry schedule and cross fingers that the ferry runs on time (or runs at all!) They may look into the taxi as well. Turns out flight is not until 6:50 p.m so that gives a little more time. They have such a nice place to stay in Inishmor! They are skipping Galway to stay this extra night.

The ferry from Inishnor to Doolin departs at 11:30. IMO, your daughter and her friend will do better taking the ferry from Inishmor to Ros a' Mhíl (Rossaveel) which departs at 08:15. Sailings are not affected by low tides and are less prone to be canceled because of high winds. The ferry ride takes 40 minutes and the shuttle bus ride from Ros a' Mhíl to Galway takes about one hour. There is a Bus Eireann bus that leaves Galway at 10:30 and arrives at the Cliffs of Moher at 12:20. There is a Bus Eireannn bus that leaves the Cliffs of Moher at 13:10. Connect in Ennis and arrive at Shannon Airport at 14:50. Another bus leaves the Cliffs at 13:30. Connect in Kilcolgan and arrive at the airport at 16:50. (Yes, it's a much longer ride.) If your daughter and her friend decide it's too much of a gamble to try to fit in the Cliffs of Moher, they can take a Bus Eireann bus directly from Galway to Shannon with departures every hour at 5 minutes past the hour. The ride takes 1hr45min. They could see a bit of Galway and still get to the airport in plenty of time for an 18:50 departure.

These are great suggestions and I am sending them on . They have decided not to risk Doolin but go onto Galway. Thanks!
