Ask the hotel for recommendation. Also depends on where the ship docks. Do you know where the ship is docking?

Susan assuming you will have the usual amount of cruise luggage( like more then one carry-on) , , so seems taxi would be best choice. To be sure go on cruisecritics.com, its a forum just for cruises and has very specific forums. like all the ports, tours, hotels, activiites etc etc, and has a forum for each cruise line even . You will find the most specific answers there.

The Hosteria Grau is just off La Rambla. Nice location. A couple of nice tapas bars on La Rambla near the Plaza Catalunya. You're within a couple of miles from the port. Take a taxi. Easy peasy. We did not find them to be expensive in Barcelona.

There is a cruise terminal right at the bottom of Les Ramlas but don't know if your ship would be using that terminal. The two times we have been in Barcelona via cruise ship we were dock some distance to the west in an industrial area and the ships buses to the Columbus statue on Les Ramlas. You really need to check with your cruise ship for docking location.
