Travel from Fussen, Germany to Murren, Switz

Hi - I am staying in Fussen, Germany for a couple nights and want to go from there to Murren. When I search the train schedule I have to put in Interlaken as a destination close to Murren, but the best schedule I am getting is leaving Fussen about 12:30 and arriving Interlaken around 10pm. Does anyone have a better route/schedule I can look into? I want to get into Murren much earlier so I don't get stuck with a long hike from Interlaken to Murren in the middle of the night! Thanks

What "train schedule" are you using? RailEurope? Yeah, I thought so. Use German Rail's website. BTW, if you spell the town "Mürren" or "Muerren" the Bahn site will show you the connections all the way to Mürren. (See, spelling does count; those two dots over the u are not ornaments. ü is a different letter than u - it is acceptable to use ue). If you book well in advance, you can get a Europa-Spezial fare of €39, all the way to Mürren. The train leaves Füssen at 10:05, and you get to Mürren at 20:51.

There are many other options appearing for me, the earliest one leaving Fussen at 05:51 and arriving in Interlaken Ost at 13:57

Wow!! Great replies!! I guess I was using the wrong site and was not spelling it correctly. I got many more options using the German site. One more question...if I buy Eurail Pass covering Germany, Switzerland and France is there anything I need to be aware of when using it or will it cover my travel from Fussen to Muerren no problem? Should I reserve a seat using the German site or just walk on? Thanks for the help!

Before you buy a train pass you should make sure it will save you money. For your travel to Mürren, the 3-country pass will take you as far as Interlaken. After that, it will only cover 25%. If you want to ride up the Schilthorn from Mürren, there is no discount. There is a good chart on the "Railpasses" page for Switzerland here on this website. It will show what a 3-country will and will not cover in Switzerland. And as Lee pointed out, you can often get very good deals on advance-purchase tickets in Germany, so a pass may not do you much good there. Also, for longer trips, you will likely be riding the faster trains that require reservations, even with a pass, so you will have to pay a supplement.

In and around Munich (including Füssen) you can travel on the German trains and buses for a ridiculously low priced ticket called the Bavarian Ticket (or Bayern Ticket). For 29 Euro a group of approximately 5 adults can travel for an entire day all over the Bavarian Area og Germany including the trek from Munich down to Fuessen and then on to the Germany/Switzerland Border. From there I would highly recommend some sort of Swiss Pass for your Swiss portion. The Swiss Pass will get you all over Switzerland on all sorts of transports for free...even as high up as Mürren. The Swiss Half Fare Card will get a 50% discount on your travels in Switzerland. The Swiss Card would get you all the way from the Swiss/German Border to Mürren for free. It will cover you from Mürren to your exit of Switzerland either at any border or to an airport. During all of the Swiss Days in between you'll get a 50% discount.
