Travel from Chamonix to cinque Terre by train

We are traveling to Europe for our first trip in September. We plan to be in Chamonix late September. We are trying to discover a train route from Chamonix to Vernazza in late September. Has anyone recently done this? Suggestions please.

I haven't traveled your route, but I've done some research. Here is the fastest route: Take the bus through the Mont Blanc tunnel from Chamonix to Courmayeur and continue on by bus to Aosta and Milan. Depart at 08:30 and arrive at 13:30. Go here to see the timetables. Travel by train from Milano Centrale to Vernazza (one connection in Monterosso), departing at 14:05 and arriving at 17:34. See the timetables at either trenitalia.com or bahn.de.

Thank you very much for this info. I had not discovered this web site for bus schedule and was not sure the buses were running during September. Is train travel in Italy fairly straightforward with the exception of delays? Thank you.

One more thing. Your Milano-Monterosso leg will be on an IC train. All seats are reserved and the reservation is included in the price of the ticket. Your Monterosso-Vernazza leg will be on a Regionale train. There is open seating and your tickets will be good on any R train on that route. Because of that, you must validate (time stamp) your tickets in the machines at the station. If you don't, you will have to pay a hefty fine on the spot.

Ok since the leg from chamonix to Vernazza has been sorted out we are now debating how to get back to Bruges Belgium. Thinking of traveling on regional trains to Genoa then on to Nice to Paris and then onto Brussels
And finally Bruges. Any suggestions? Know there are high speed trains from Nice to Paris and onwards. Not sure if we can by pass Paris going back. Anyone traveled this route in the past? Suggestions?

Thank you for the information. Agree it is a long day with train travel. Checked Ryanair. They do fly out of Milan bergamo with vey low fairs however very struck baggage policies, with all add ons still low fair, however Brussels Air has comparable fees even less with no booking charge. Would not have checked this without your input. Thanks. Happy traveling.

Hello I am confused regarding your response. We will be traveling from Cinque Terre, Genoa is north, Pisa is south. Perhaps your origin for travel is different from ours?

Ryanair's flights from Genoa to Charleroi only operate two days a week, Wednesdays and Sundays. According to the search engine skyscanner.com, here are your cheapest choices out of Milan: Bergamo to Charleroi on Ryanair. Malpensa to Brussels International on easyJet
Malpensa to Brussels International on Brussels Airlines
