We will be ending a cruise in Barcelona and would like to visit Paris for a few days before flying home. Has anyone taken the train? or would it be better to fly?

The train probably takes over twelve hours. It's a hour and a half flight, but you get dumped way the hell out at Beauvais, so it takes almost that much time again to get into town. That's Ryan. Air France goes to Roissy, but could cost more.

Your fastest daytiime train route is Barcelona Sants-Figueras Vilafant-Paris Lyon. The trip takes 7hr41min. Depart at 09:00 or 13:00. See the timetables on the German Rail site. Your best budget airline choices are easyJet to CDG and Vueling to Orly.

I took the Elipsos overnight train from Barcelona and found it to be very convenient. It left from Estacio Franca station (near Barceloneta) around 8pm? and arrived around 8am the next morning at Gare d'Austerlitz.
