Travel by Eurostar from London to Paris

I have been reading a lot of the forums and have not found the answer I am looking for. What is the best way to order train tickets on Eurostar from London to Paris. I am thinking I should go directly to Eurostar website to order. How many months out can I reserve to guarantee a seat? My wife and I are planning a trip in May 2019. I have decided not to get a rail pass after reading many posts on this topic. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Order your tickets at Eurostar.com. I think the earliest I have ever been able to order them is 6 months in advance and you do want to check early and order as soon as they go on sale as the discounts disappear as time gets closer. In fact, the website says:

Tickets go on sale between 138 and 190 days before departure. We price the tickets on our trains based on demand and availability, with cheaper tickets often selling out quickest.

We have twice ridden Eurostar and bought our tickets 180 days out, the first day of sale. Different times have different prices, but all will be best that far ahead. note these are not changeable without fees. Only you know whether you can plan like that.

As said above, if your only worry is "guaranteeing a seat," you do not need to book as soon as tickets go on sale. While the trains can sell out, this doesn't happen right away; seats are often available even last minute. However, if you want the lowest price and can accept the restrictions on the cheapest tickets (no refunds/exchanges/changes), book as soon as you are sure of your plans, once the tickets become available. Those last minute tickets I spoke of are VERY expensive (look at prices for tomorrow to see what I mean).

I'll just add that Eurostar will allow you to print your tickets at home, so I do that and place them in a plastic sleeve. I also add them to my iPhone wallet and can access them thru the Eurostar app on my phone.

I think the Eurostar site still says to be at St Pancras 30-45 minutes ahead but I try to get there 1+ hour ahead at least. The waiting area is small but before I go thru the gates to Eurostar which includes security and UK border exit and French border entrance, I get food and drinks from the kiosks in the station. No liquid restriction going thru security to the train.

Do read the section on Eurostar on Man in Seat 61 website for more information as well.
