Can you drive a British car in France since steering wheel is on opposite sides? If so how difficult is driving a British car in France?
First question is why would you want to? Second, it isn't any different than driving a right hand drive in the US. Just have to rely on your passenger to tell you when it is clear to pass. I am sure Brits take their cars to the south of France all the time.
Wanda,
It would probably be easier just to drop your car in Britain and rent another one when you arrive in France. Could you indicate if you're going back to the UK to fly home?
Thank you everyone for your replies.
Ken - We are traveling from Cotswolds to Normandy Beaches then on to Paris. We will depart from Paris.
If you're going from the Cotswalds to Normandy to Paris, don't waste your time going to London and taking the Eurostar. Not only is it out of your way, but it will be a big headache.
Drive from the Cotswalds to Portsmouth. Drop your car off there. Take one of the ferries from Portsmouth to Cherbourg--it only takes three hours--and from there it's only about a 45 to 60 minute drive to the Normandy Beaches.
You can then drop the car off in Paris.
And I agree, it will be better to drop your UK car off in the UK and pick up a new one in France.
Here's a website with Ferry and Port information:

I agree with Steve except for dropping the car in London. Some Americans do drive there without nervous breakdowns...but not me for sure. I would suggest dropping the car in Bath, at Reading, at Oxford, or at Heathrow Airport, then taking a train in to London and transferring via taxi/Underground to St. Pancras. Or explore the possiblity of going around London (lots of traffic congestion) and returning the car close to the channel, perhaps at Dover. But driving in London.....
