Hello everyone! In a few weeks I am leaving for Europe and arriving in Heathrow @ 6 am. Then, leaving from Gatwick @ 10:10 for our destination. ( I obviously wasn't paying good enough attention when booking the flight- because I didn't realize the distance between the two). My question is whether I should use the train or the bus. I know the bus is probably easier, but I am worried if we are arriving at 6 we might get caught in traffic. We are only bringing our backpacks so luggage wont be an issue. Any advice? Thanks!!
Even with traffic, the bus ("coach") between Heathrow and Gatwick should be the quickest route. The Heathrow airport website has detail about transferring between the airports.
We do this frequently. Actually, for two or more a taxi is a great bargain. Comfortable, quick, easy with the luggage, and you can reserve them. We use http://www.airport-pickups-london.com/Gatwick_Transfers.asp
The fare on National Express coaches (highway buses) is £21.50/person. For the sake of clarity, the link Dennis gave you is to a private car service, not a taxi. It's not a bad way to go. A taxi would be extremely expensive. Most importantly, if you arrive late at LHR and/or you are delayed getting through immigration/passport control, there is a good chance you will miss your flight at LGW. Traffic conditions on the M25 aren't the only issue here.
I know there is a possibility of getting delayed. I really just wasnt thinking very much i guess when i booked the flights. I am hoping that because our flight comes in at 6am there wont be any major time delays through immigration- but I do know it could happen. Thanks for your replies though!
