I am trying to get from Florence to Marseille. The trains are about 13 hours with several connections with 16 and 24 minute connection times. A lot of connections. Any suggestions

James, what an unhappy travel day! It does look as though there are several 10-hour, 3-train itineraries though, which is a little better. Have you investigated flying?

International rail services to Italy are notoriously bad. I'd fly.

In 2007 we needed to get from Aix to Florence and didn't like the train connections (a 2-hour layover at 2am didn't appeal to me!) so we stayed 2 nights in the Cinque Terre to break up the trip.
