What is a good way to travel between Budapest and Venice and how do I buy a ticket? I have been unsuccessful at purchasing a ticket through Trenitalia.

Katharine, I checked the DeutschBahn site (for most accurate schedules--not to buy!) and found that trains take about 11 or 12 hours. Then I checked itasoftware (a site to compare flights--again, not to buy!) and found that for around US$200 you could fly Malev airlines in 1-1/2 hours. Personally, I wouldn't want to spend 12 hours of my vacation on a train but would fly instead.
