Please help on the best tranportation mode between Alvor(Protugal) to Malaga..Should i rent a car, or take the bus or train? If i rent a car, what are the cross country border crossing policies? Is it expensive if i take take it from portugal to spain?

There is a bus from Faro to Malaga. But it's a 7 hour trip just from Faro (Alvor is farther). With a car it's a 4 and 1/2 hour drive. There are no border controls. Both Spain and Portugal are part of the EU Schengen zone. However if you pick up a rental car in Portugal and drop it off in Spain, you might incur stiff drop off charges.
