Hi, I need help. We are going to The Open on Friday July 15th and have been notified there will be limited train service due to ongoing staff shortages and we are looking for alternate transportation. I emailed a few taxi-car service businesses with no luck. Any viable suggestions appreciated.

From where? There are buses to St Andrews.

I took the bus to St. Andrews years ago. It was quite efficient. Leaves from the main bus terminal in Edinburgh.

That is a big deal. I am sure the buses will be running. We actually took the train and then the bus but it was a normal week day.

The Open’s website has a section on how to get there which suggests options. Where are you travelling from?

Bus 99 operated by Stagecoach runs frequently between Dundee and St Andrews.

We had a similar situation for Thursday. The Open web site (https://www.theopen.com/tickets-and-hospitality/getting-there) indicates that LENR trains are expected to run normally. The only problem is you have to commit to a specific time both outbound and home. But it will get you there for at least some of the fun. We have group of 7 and snagged that only outbound that still had that many seats.
