Is there a way to get to Reifenstein Castle by Train? I am planning a trip in Europe in September and hope to use the Train the majority of the way. I found that the train does go to Vipiteno/Sterling - how close is it to the Castle - is it close enough to walk- or would I need to take a bus or some other way to the castle?

Not sure where the train station in Vipiteno/Sterzing is, but Reifenstein is just on the outskirts of town. We drove but it didn't seem far at all.
Just a warning... We went to see Reifenstein ourselves. My wife had a broken foot at the time, and we (she) still made the "climb" up to the castle. It's a pathway that switches back and forth to the top. Upon arrival at the specified "tour time" we found one other person waiting also. We weren't allowed in. The woman told us there was a 4 person minimum for a tour of the castle. The gentleman tried (he was German and spoke German to her) to persuade her to let the 3 of us tour the castle, even showing her the trouble my wife went through to get to the castle, but she just closed the door on us.

I just wanted to mention, that even though we didn't get in Reifenstein, we loved the charming town of Sterzing/Vipiteno.
