What's the best/economical way to get to Lourdes from Paris? We only have 2 days for this side trip in late Sept. 2011.
Thanks for your help.
Take the TGV high-speed train. There are 4 non-stops a day from Paris to Lourdes. Journey takes about 6 hours each way. www.tgv-europe.com Choose Great Britain as your ticket collection country or you'll be kicked to the usually-more-expensive Rail Europe website.
As an alternative (if times and prices don't suit you) look at the TGV from Paris to PAU and a local connection from there to Lourdes.
Yes-taking the TGV is best-hopefully you can get a ticket.Depends on the number of pilgrimages going,I learned. We had to get one way in advance but could not get the TGV back to Paris-all booked-but we took the "slow" train back" -connecting at Toulouse. actually, it was a more comfortable seat on the slow train!
Thanks, Marie! That's what we ended doing.you're right return trip was more difficult to book on TGV!
