My party of four (with luggage) are wondering what is the best way to get to Joigny (the Locaboat dock) from Paris. I see there is train service but wonder if anyone knows of a private shuttle service that would be reliable and not too expensive. Thanks.
I don't know squat about a shuttle, but here's some more wrinkles: It's a bit less than a mile from about where I think the train station is to the docks. You'll need to lay in some grub. All that's nearby is the gas station across the road. The road that runs from the station to the bridge across the Yonne only has a couple of small stores. Downstream from the docks, but inland, there's a Lidl and either a Carrefour or Intermarche. That's a bit less than a mile as well, but too far to lug groceries. I think what I'd do is take the train, then a taxi. Then, I'd have the taxi come back and take me grocery shopping. If you arrive well before check-in you could pile your junk somewhere and go grocery shopping right then. If you can wander across the river into Joigny proper, it'd be well worth your time, especially for the church and half-timbered buildings.
Thanks. The train seems to be the best bet. Thanks for the shopping/taxi info.
