Transportation to Hohengeroldseck Castle

Is there public transportation from the train station in Seelbach, Germany (or the neighboring Biberach-Baden) to Hohengeroldseck Castle? An hour or 2 of walking around a castle ruin added to a 1 hour 30 min round trip walk might be too much for my 8-year old. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure she can reliably spend 4-5 hours away from a bathroom...is there a bathroom near the castle ruin?

I am not aware of an transportation to the castle. I was there in April. I do believe there are facilities there, but you would be best served to contact the society that maintains it or the local village. It's near one of my ancestral stomping grounds, so it was a natural must-see. Stayed in Seelbach in a vacation apartment. Trying to recall the family that owned it. Really nice place near the school. Seelbach tourism office (someone should speak enough English, if it's a problem, since they historically had a Canadian air base at Lahr): Bei Interesse an einer Burgführung wenden Sie sich bitte an die Kultur- und Tourist-Info:

I found your castle (I've actually been there, 20 years ago) on Google maps. It's about half way between Reichenbach and Biberach, north of Hwy 415. It's on top of a wooded hill. The bare spot on the top, around the castle, makes it look almost like a volcano. It's surrounded by a road called Schloßberg. There is a new looking building at the parking lot. Might have bathrooms. The Konus map does not show a bus line from Seelbach to Biberach, so one of those towns is probably as close as you can get. There is a bus from Lahr to Seelbach. It goes from there south to Schuttertal, but there is a train from Offenburg to Biberach. It's about a 5 km walk from Biberach to the castle; better see if you can get a taxi.
