Hi. We'll have a car traveling from Rome to Lake Como. We're trying to confirm if we can take a train from Cinque Terre then to San Gimignano then to Rome. Is that possible? Or should we keep our car and deal with the parking. Thank you.

Yes, most travelers (here) choose to do the exact route you mention by train. Rome and Cinque Terre are two places where you don't want to have a car; and San Gimignano is a place you can reach by train from Cinque Terre, with planning using the rail schedules you can get from this site:
