transportation to and from the Chique Terre

We will be traveling from Zurich Switzerland to the Cinque Terre in Italy on April 26, 2013. We wanted to go by train to see the scenery. What are the best train connections and do we need to buy our tickets ahead of time. We will be arriving in Switzerland on April 22 and could wait to buy our tickets until then.
On April 30 we need to travel from Cinque Terre to Munich and thought we would fly. What are the best routes and when do we need to buy our tickets?

Take a train from Zurich to Milano. Then from Milano to Genoa and from Genoa to the Cinque Terre (Monterosso?). You can buy tickets ahead of time or on the spot at the station. If you buy a ticket ahead of time online you might snatch a discounted ticket. However discounted tickets are non refundable and non changeable, so you must be sure about your travel plans. Regarding flying to Munich from the Cinque Terre, the only way is to fly from Genoa with Lufthansa Regional or from Pisa or Florence with AirDolomiti/Lufthansa. By train from the Cinque Terre to Munich it's at least 11 hours and at least 2 train changes.

Vueling air has flights from Pisa to Munich. CT train to LaSpezia then LS to Pisa Don't know if you can go directly to the airport, or need 1 change at Pisa Centrale
Check Trenitalia.com for the Italy portion.

I mentioned only non stop flights from GOA, PSA or FLR. If we contemplate flights with stops then there are several flight choices to MUC, not just Vueling via Barcelona.
