Transportation to and from Taylor Swift Concert in Lyon France

Hi, we are celebrating my daughter's graduation and going to the Taylor Swift concert in Lyon France. Does anyone recommend a driving service that we could reserve for the evening that could take us from the hotel to the concert and back? Or would it be better to rent a car for the day? Would welcome any suggestions. Thank you!

A huge city like Lyon and a rental car don’t mix easily. We used taxis (and walking) the last trip.

Sorry that I don’t have a car service recommendation. I was curious about the concert location, and found this Online:

How to get to Groupama Stadium

Groupama Stadium is located in the Lyon suburb Décines, in the east of the city and just over 10 kilometres from Lyon’s city centre… If using public transport, the stadium can be reached by tram. The stadium is only a 10-minute walk from station Decines Grand Large of tram line 3, which runs just north of the stadium, but on matchdays a special branch will bring you right in front of the stadium. Line 3 departs from Gare Part-Dieu on the eastern edge of Lyon’s city centre.

I wonder if there’ll be a special Tram going to the front of the stadium for this concert, as there is for soccer matches?

Hmmm… motorbike parking for just €5, and not yet sold out? Wait a minute … That would be a bad idea for me!

Rick’s France guidebook says that it’s not a great taxi town (given the excellent Tram and Metro systems), but “If you do need a taxi, try Taxi Lyon at +33 6 82 55 69 34. Uber works (in Lyon), but not as efficiently as in Paris.”

You don't mention where your hotel is so it is hard to give advice, but I agree that renting a car is a bad idea.

My suggestion is to take the tram. Either the special tram to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie where you can change to the metro, or a regular tram to Decines Grand Large.

Another idea would be to plan on going pretty early, and take a taxi to the westernmost stop of the T7, then take the T7 to the stadium, and do the reverse on the way back.

We are staying about 20 minutes away from the stadium near the airport (LYS). My husband was thinking of renting a car and dropping us off and picking us up (so parking not needed), but we are open to public transit. I've tried contacting the hotel but haven't found someone who can speak English. Thank you all for your suggestions!

Then the easiest way is probably to take the tram to Decines Grand Large and walk the last bit.

Even if you don't have to worry about parking, traffic around the arena will most likely be horrible.
