Transportation - Rue Cler to CDG and Orly early in the am

We are leaving Rue Cler early (our flight leaves cdg at 9 and my moms flight leaves Orly at 10 but we also have vat refunds to take care of). What time would you recommend leaving Rue Cler for both places, and what mode of transportation? I'm not sure if the Metro/ RER will leave early enough to get us there, and if we need to take a taxi or shuttle bus can you give a recommendation? We are staying in a rented flat so don't really have someone to ask for advice here. Our French is not very good so we are having a hard time communicating. Thought this sight would be a better bet.

If you're flying home from CDG, you should be there by 06:00. Taking the Metro/RER won't work.

The first response is fraught with pitfalls. The second is accurate. Let's start over:

Roissy is a mess early in the morning so you need to crack the terminal door at six. It's been a long time since I've taken a homeward flight out of Orly, but I suspect two and a half hours might work down there, maybe not, shoot for three and cool your heels if necessary.

As Tim said, the metro/rer is a non-starter that early, leaving a taxi the only realistic option from the Rue Cler vicinity. That part of town isn't in my first-light tromping area, but I'll offer that many of the smaller taxi ranks are devoid of cabs in the wee hours. Were I to use Dick's suggestion I'd make sure I got up at four for several mornings and snooped about to make sure that something was around.

Americans seem to be the only nationality that refers to airports by their identifiers. Paris has tourists from all over the world - - most use the proper place names for things. You'd have to hope that the cab driver would know what CDG meant. You'd have to pray that somebody knew what ORL meant. If you're going to hand somebody a piece of paper, it should at least say 'aeroport Charles de Gaulle / Roissy' or 'aeroport de Paris Orly', Screw the grammar and articles, these would at least get you to the right airplane patch.

For timing, figure a cab could drive to Roissy in about an hour and to Rungis in about fifteen minutes less -- assuming average early traffic in both cases. Know that, if you order up a cab, the meter starts at the moment he starts heading to you, not when you get in.

Both Taxis G7 and Taxis Bleus have English-speaking dispatchers. I'd give them a buzz the night before and use the taxi rank as Plan B.

Has anyone use WeCab before? We can reserve them ahead of time, and they seem to have a good reputation.

I think WeCab is G7 now that I look closely. Thanks for your advice. Will book them tonight.
