We are arriving to the Munich airport and don't have transportation to get to the hotel from there. What transportation method would be recommended? Obviously taxi, but do they have shuttles as well?
Where are you staying? There are continuous S-bahn trains to central Munich.

We are staying at the Leonardo Hotel. Here is the address to it:
Heimgartenstr. 14
Obergiesing - Fasangarten
München, 81539, Germany
Taxi will take about 45 minutes. A combo of the S bahn and U bahn rail will take about an hour. There is some walking involved for the rail option so you need to consider that if you are dragging lots of luggage. I took a taxi to my hotel but rail back to the airport. Both were at off hours and I had no issues with getting there and back.
Cost from what I remember from a couple years ago is about 60 EURO for a Taxi (regardless of number of people) to the city center and about 10 EURO per person for the rail. Prices may have changed since then. I was not able to quickly find the prices online.
If you want public transport, take the S-bahn to Hauptbahnhof (main train station) then change to the U-bahn line U-2 exit at Silberhornstrasse and walk 2 blocks to the Leonardo Hotel. That will take about 1 hour. Single fare tickets are 10.80 euro per person. Two to five people (you did say we) you can also purchase a group day ticket for 22.30 euro total and you will have a transit pass for your group in Munich for the rest of the day.
Alternative is to take the S-bahn to Munich Ostbahnhof (east train station), same price as before, then take a taxi to your hotel, which is nearby. Probably about a 10 euro cab ride.
The S-bahns go two separate routes, alternating from the airport, but still go to both stations. So just take the first available train.
