Transportation Options for Florence and Surrounding Areas

Hello! We are going to be in Florence for 2 months in the fall and want to get the monthly transit pass and we plan to travel to Scandicci, Fiesole, etc very frequently. I have looked at the ataf.com website but am still a little lost. Does that pass cover ALL forms of transportation (trolly, bus, tramway, regional train) like the one in Rome does? Does anyone know where I can find a map of the boundaries? Is there a "Ron in Florence" website ? :-)
Any information or experience you have would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Which trollys and tramways are these? They must have arrived since my last trip to Florence.

I only recall that the No 07 bus out of the bus station at the main Florence train station will take you to Fiesole.

When is the last time you were there?... The "tram" I am referring to is the T1 or "tramvia" line that goes from Florence to Scandicci. It's like a subway, but above ground.
The "trolley" I am referring to are those little electric mini-buses. Sorry if that part confused, but there is indeed a tram now-a-days.

Try WWW.Firenzeturismo.it in Italian or English. Pick the Getting Around By Bus or Tram prompt and you will find all you want to know. Including which bus leaves from where and where it goes etc. Not sure about the pass you're talking about: I know of a 35-euro monthly or a 10-Euro refillable Carta Agile for one or more people, which you wave at bus machines. The little electric buses in the centre are all included as are the bigger ones, and also the new tranvia. ATAF works with Trenitalia by allowing ticket holders (1.20 Euro for 90 minutes) to use trains within city limits, so you could go from Firenze SMN to Firenze Campo di Marte, for example, but out-of-the-city trips on regional trains are not included. Have a look.

Thanks Guy - that is exactly what I needed to know. Yes we are getting that 35 EURO monthly pass. I am familiar with Rome's transportation policies and the atac.roma.it website seems to be a little more clear than the ataf.it website. But you hit it right on- thanks!
