Please help! Our ship is docking in Monte Carlo. Suggestions on getting to Stresa(Lake Maggiore). From research, I think going via MXP may work? I am a bit confused as to trains available in Monaco? Is there actually a train station?

Many thanks for your detailed reply. Our ship would probably allow us to leave as early as 7 AM? Sleeping in a little later sounds more appealing. You have been most helpful!!

The reason that bahn.de and sbb.ch currently show routes via Switzerland is that Europe-wide timetable updates will take effect tomorrow and Trenitalia is just now finishing uploading its timetables. German Rail and Swiss Rail cannot display the updates until authorized by Trenitalia to do so. Also, Trenitalia doesn't show timetables for trains operated by SNCF (French National Rail). That includes the regional trains between Ventimiglia and Monaco. According to trenitalia.com, you can leave Ventimiglia at 08:58, connect at Milano Centrale, and arrive in Stresa at 14:33. Or leave Ventimiglia at 10:58, connect at Milano Centrale, and arrive in Stresa at 16:33. (These times are correct for 9 June and beyond.) According to voyages-sncf.com, you can leave Monaco at 07:49 and arrive in Ventimiglia at 08:13, leave at 08:19 and arrive at 08:43, leave at 08:49 and arrive at 09:13, leave at 09:25 and arrive at 09:51, leave at 09:49 and arrive at 10:13, or leave at 10:49 and arrive at 10:43.
