We are going to Chartres and would like to go on the same day from there round-trip to Maintenon so that we can see both places on a one day excursion out of Paris by train. Does anyone have any advice about getting to Maintenon and back to Chartres? How long it would take? Best method of transport, etc?

There is at least one regional train/hour (more at certain times of the day) from Chartres to Maintenon. Depending upon the number of stops a particular train makes, the trip takes 10-20 minutes. The fare is €3.70.

Thanks for the information. Do you know if there are multiple train stations in Chartres or if there is only the one that serves Chartres-Paris? It sounds like we can see both sites, but it would be convenient to know if we have to search out a 2nd station.
