Transportation in Carcassone, France

Is it still possible to catch a city bus from the train station out to the old city (fortress)? I did this many years ago, but Rick doesn't list bus numbers in his guidebooks anymore and recommends a taxi.

Looking at the offical map you can get a bus 4, but it's a bit circuitous. Having been there the walk isn't bad unless you're infirm. And you might be able to get some food in the main square of the new town that's a bit cheaper than in the old city.
