Transportation from Split To Dubrovnik Croatia

I am traveling in September 2011 to Austria, Croatia and Bari, Italy and am looking for advice on the best way to get from Split to Dubrovnik so that I can catch the ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari. Thanks!

I took the bus the opposite direction (from Dubrovnik to Split) in summer 2006, and it was very easy. Split's bus station at that time was very user-friendly with enough English spoken. (I assume it still is.) The website Angela gave was the one I used to plan my journey way back then, too, and it's even in English!

I believe that public-transportation-wise, bus will be your only option, as the trains in Croatia do not run south of Split. Here is a link to the bus station in Split, where you can find timetables of their upcoming Split-Dubrovnik runs (it's too early to show the schedule for September): http://www.ak-split.hr/ Good luck!

The Jadrolinija ferry is an option. I took it from Rijeka down to Split and then onward after a few days from Split to Dubrovnik. I enjoyed the leisurely cruise down the coastline, meeting people from all over and taking in the view from the sea. Information is here: http://www.jadrolinija.hr/ I began this journey by taking the train from Vienna to Ljubljana, Slovenia, which is definitely worth a day or two, and then onward to Rijeka, Croatia to catch the ferry.
