I am struggling to find a train that leaves Rome before 4pm in the day? Do the train routes only get added a certain number of days before a trip. Currently there is one at 4 something and one at 5 something. That is it...any other suggestions?

What date are you looking for?
Times for dates after mid-June have not yet been posted, but should be 90-95% the same as the current times.
Look on http://www.trenitalia.com/ (the official Italian Railways site) for "Roma ( Tutte Le Stazioni )" to "Monterosso" and choose a date in May and you will find trains at 07:50, 08:35, 09:57, 10:35, 11:57, 13:57, 14:20 etc.
It gives prices from €31.70, depending on which train you choose.

Hi Chris, I am looking on website you suggested and only 1 train showing 19:41 getting in at after midnight.
I would like a train around noon. When will they update with more trains? 30 days before?

What date did you use? Trains in Italy are currently only shown up to early/mid June. So try a date before then. The times will not change much.
When I tried it I got lots of times: 07:50, 08:35, 09:57, 10:35, 11:57, 13:57, 14:20 etc.

Please, if you want help, you have to answer our questions. Chris, asked for your dates of travel. What are the dates? If you want to look at schedule, simply look at same day next week. There will be little to no changes with the updated schedules are posted.

Times for 20th June are not yet loaded into the website (stereotypes about Italians, .....). Use a date in May to do your planning, and check back weekly to buy your tickets for 20th June.
