Transportation from Rome to Cruise Ship

What options are there for getting from downtown Rome to Civitavecchia to board a cruise ship? I know that the train is one option, but has anyone used another form of transportation such as a limo or shuttle service that you would recommend? Any suggestions will be helpful.

No, you pretty well covered it -- train, taxi, shuttle/limo. The price range will be from 8/10 Euro to 80 to 100 Euro. This has been well discussed on this site and the To the Boot so just scan back a few pages.

For the train, there are various classes of trains that depart Rome and stop at Civitavecchia. The Regionale (R) train costs 4.50Euro. The IC train fare is 8.50Euro. The Eurostar fare is 11.40Euro. Same tracks.

www.romecabs.com will take 2 people with luggage from their Rome hotel to the port entrance for 45Euro. 5Euro extra for each extra person. The taxis don't usually hold more than four people. The fares for shuttles and limos go way up from there.

We took a cruise last year that stopped in Civitavecchia and my husband convinced me we should take the cruise bus into Rome. If the ship is starting from there, it should have a shuttle option in from Rome also. That being said, I would much rather take the train. The roads are congested and take much longer than hopping on a train that doesn't need to stop for trafic :-)
