Transportation from Paris train station to hotel

My wife and I will be travelling on the Eurostar mid September arriving at Gare du Nord around 22:30 and need transportation to a hotel close to the Eiffel Tower. Is it best to take a taxi and how much might it cost?

We took a taxi from Gare du Nord to our hotel. Don't remember how much it cost, bit it was reasonable. We took taxis several times in Paris.

Always asked price before you get into the cab.

Taxi will be nice at 10:30 at night. You'll see the bright lights of Paris. Otherwise I'd take the Metro. Your stop in the 7th Arrondisment near the Tower Effiel is most likely Ecole Militaire or La Motte Picquet. Tres bon!

Taxis late at night impose a surcharge, I seem to remember and there will be an extra charge for your baggage, but I would guess about 20 euro.

We took the Eurostar London-Paris on June 16. Arriving at Gare du Nord about 7 P.M., there were about thirty groups ahead of us at the taxi queue. Our taxi driver was very kind, but spoke NO English. Luckily, I remember a little of my high school French. It would have been useful to have a printed out map showing the location of the hotel. We figured it out because I knew the hotel was l block from the left bank, right off the side of Notre Dame. (Paris isn't like London where the taxi drivers know the location of almost all of the hotels. )
I don't remember the price but it was very reasonable (maybe ten euros?), especially compared to London.
