transportation from Paris to De Gaulle airport

We are staying at a convent in Paris ~ rue de Vaugirard and wondering what would be the most economical way to the airport. We will have arrived in Paris by train from Bordeaux.

Constance - I think the RER B would be the cheapest at 6.80 euro. You can catch the RER B at Gard Nord. I'm not sure what metro stop is closest to Rue de Vaugirard.

constance,

You might also ask your Hotel about arranging a Shuttle. Generally they pick up several passengers from different Hotels until the Van is full, and then drop each at the appropriate terminal. By "sharing", the cost is a bit more reasonable.

The RER mentioned in the previous post is a good option too.

Happy travels!

If you decide on the RER, just be aware that the B line, which goes to the airport, is actually two lines. Fairly far out the track splits, with only one part continuing on to CDG. Be sure to take the correct train.

The current fare from anywhere in central Paris to CDG by Metro and RER is €8.50.

Rue de Vaugirard is a long street with several Metro stations along it. If you would like a route recommendation, give us the address of the convent.

Hello Constance,
We've done this numerous times, and without a doubt the most economical method would the RER and metro combination. If you are not already aware of it, the metro system has a class of pass that allows a group of people to travel on one ticket..... very economical.

Mike says the Paris metro system "has a class of pass that allows a group of people to travel on one ticket". This I have never heard of and I find no reference to it on the RAPT websites.

Could you please give us further details, Mike?

We were in Paris for 10 days in mid May 2009. Three of those days were with a RS tour. On that tour the group traveled together on Metro several times. Every time, the guide handed out individual tickets to each group member. We never saw any group-one-ticket.
