We are travelling with a 21 month old and 2 suitcases. We arrive in Orly, Paris in the afternoon from Rome. Should we take the cab from the airport or opt for a airport van? We are renting apartment in Latin Quarter. Which will be faster and cheaper per person?
Sonia, first of all Thank You for the very clear thread title - I was afraid I had goofed in your other post, but that one is indeed FROM Paris TO CDG LOL!.........Now, I would take the 'Orlybus'. It takes approx. 30 minutes, costs €6,10 each (children free? just gives one fare...), and drops you off at Denfert-Rochereau - VERY close to rue Pascal! You'd get a chance to stretch your legs a bit. Train intervals are 15-20 minutes. All of this is according to the aeroportsdeparis.fr website I gave you on the other thread...We took this Many Years Ago, but it was great...got my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in that bus 8^D
Sonia, another option you might consider is the train. Have a look at * parisbytrain.com/orly-ory-central-paris-transportation/ * for more information. It's been a while since I travelled with a 21-month old, so it's possible that the Bus that Eileen suggested might be less "stressful"? Happy travels!
Thanks Eileen for your response. This is very helpful. I am reading the connections chapter real careully, but I guess still is my very first time I still have questions. Is Orlybus as mentioned in the book a train, right? :) The book mentions something like 3/hr. I am not quite sure what that means.
NOT "Orlyval"; that's the 'connector train' b/n Orly Airport and the RER B train from Orly to Paris (connects at 'Antony' station).........."Orlybus" Is the street bus I was refering to. Confusing, eh?!? ;-).........And "3/hr" means 3 (buses, trains, etc.) an hour, as in every 20 minutes or so.
OK - Now I have a 2006 Paris book...he does refer to an "Orly Rail Bus"; not the same thing. "Orlyval" and "Orly Rail Bus" simply connect you to the RER train from the Orly Airport. Plain ol' "Orlybus" is the bus.
