Transportation from Normandy to London

What is the best way to get from Normandy France to London without doing an overnight ferry?
Thank you!

As far as I can see there are two options: either get the train to Paris and then take the Eurostar. (Book tickets from Normandy to Paris at tgv-europe.com and from Paris to London at www.eurostar.com, around 120 days in advance for the Eurostar and 90 days for the French train to get the best fares.) The only direct flight from Normandy to London appears to be Cityjet from Deauville to London City, but this runs only certain days a week. (www.cityjet.com).

When are you taking this trip? Normally there is direct train service from Caen to Paris and the ride takes around two hours. Major track maintenance will start in the middle of July. The trip will require connections and, depending upon your departure time, will take from three to six hours.

If you can make your way up to Calais you can board the Eurostar there to London. It's a 58 min. train ride.

There is very limited service from Calais to London on Eurostar and the Calais Frethun station the Eurostar stops at is well out of town.

The ferry trip from Calais to Dover takes only a bit over an houra nice relaxing trip. Then you take the bus from the ferry dock to the train station and head up to London. Have done this trip twice over the last 2 yearscan easily be done in a day. It helps to have "charted" the various times for departure for both the ferry and trainto help you in your "time" planning.

There are also daytime ferries from Normandy. There are both traditional vessels and fast ferries, running from various ports in Normandy to England. Which one is best for you will depend on your starting point in France and the time of your journey. Each operator has its own website, but you can find them all at http://www.aferry.co.uk/cross-channel-ferry-uk.htm. Although most of the companies accept foot passengers, these routes are mostly used by cars with passengers and by freight.
