transportation from London to Southampton Cruise Terminal

What is most affordable, quick and easy way to get from London to the Queen Elizabeth II cruise terminal East Dock? We'll be staying in Westminster area of central London. Thanks!

Underground or taxi to Waterloo station. There are at least 2 and often 3 direct trains per hour to Southampton Central - see www.southwestrains.co.uk and use the journey planner there to book tickets up to 12 weeks in advance. These are principally commuter services, so avoid travelling after 16.00 and note that there isn't a huge amount of room for luggage. Journey time to Southampton Central is around 1 hour 20 minutes. Arrive on platform 4, exit through the ticket barrier on that platform, turn left and you will see the taxi rank right in front of you. The Eastern Docks are a few minutes drive away. I commute on that service, so ask if you have any other questions. There are also hourly coach services from Victoria Coach Station. Journey time is about 2 hours 15, but they are really cheap. See www.nationalexpress.com. Southampton coach station is a few hundred metres from the railway station and there should be taxis around there too.

How many are in your party? If more than two it could be that a private transfer (from your hotel to the dock) would be economical compared with the train fares and taxi fares.

Thanks for your most helpful tips! I've figured out the times with the trains and a taxi at either end for the 2 of us.
