Any tips on traveling from Italy to Croatia? We are a family of four traveling in July/August. The Jadrolina ferry Bari-Stari Grad is $400 one way...out of our budget. Thanks.
For that price, a car might be possible, the drop off fees vary from 200-400USD, and it's a pretty easy, all freeway drive.
Ryanair and Easyjet both fly in and out of the area for fairly cheap.
I'd google ferries, and check some of the other options. There are lots of ferries leaving up north if you are planning to go that way, it may be a good departure point. Searching "venice prince" will bring up some ferry options.
Train, and bus are very, very long options. Bus can actually be the easier and better choice, as there is a section of track that was destroyed in WWII, and never replaced, so leaving Italy you have to disembark the train, catch a bus, the catch another train - bit annoying with kids or luggage.
Hope that helps. Research cars and flights for sure.
It is a longer trip, but maybe train at least to Trieste, and bus where the train does not go. $100 US per person though is a pretty tight budget.
Look for Kent's post on how to do searches so that you can see the replies to the same/similar question that was asked about a month ago.
The ferry from Ancona to Zadar or Split would be less expensive.
