Transportation from Gare du Nord to Eiffel Tower (Hotel Londres)

We are staying at the Hotel Londres - Eiffel, which is recommended by Rick Steves.

We are arriving at Gare du Nord, and I am hoping that someone can recommend the best way for us to get to the hotel.

There are 6 of us - so is it possible to get a car to take us? Any recommendations? I don't think a taxi will accomodate us.

Is taking the metro feasible?

Have e-mailed the hotel and was told to get a taxi - but again, I'm concerned a taxi won't accomodate 6.

Kind regards,
Kathy

If you're packing light and can easily schlep your own luggage, the Metro will be fine. Take line 4 from Gare du Nord to Strasbourg--Saint-Denis. Transfer to line 8 and take it to Ecole Militaire.

Or take a minivan taxi or two standard taxis. A shuttle would be a waste of money for that short ride.

Kathy: 6 people with luggage definitely means 2 taxis. 6 people with luggage on the metro with a transfer means "not fun". Here is an alternative. Go to the main concourse of the Gare du Nord (street level) where there is an information kiosk and buy a carnet (10) of bus/metro tickets. (Or buy them at St. Pancras) Then walk out the front door, turn left and then turn left again onto the lane which runs down beside the station. Walk to the back of the station and you will see a bus terminal. Take bus No. 42 (it is the beginning of the route so you will easily find seats) and get off at Rapp-Bourdonnais. There are electronic signs in the buses telling you the next stop (prochaine arret). You can walk to your hotel from there. Cost: one ticket each, i.e. 1.60 euro approx. Plus it is a gorgeous sight-seeing route.

While I still think the metro would be OK, I like Norma's suggestion of taking bus #42 even better! Not only do you get an above-ground ride with no connections, Rapp-Bourdonnais is closer to your hotel than is the Ecole Militaire metro station. The price of a ten-ticket carnet is €11.60 so the cost of each ticket is a mere €1.16.

Dear all - thank you so much.
It sounds like we can definitley handle the bus, and I am so grateful for the step-bystep instructions and encouragement.

I feel a lot better now.

Does anyone know roughly how long the bus ride is?

Thanks again.

You're welcome.

According to the Journey Planner on the RATP site, the bus ride is scheduled to take 36 minutes.
