Transportation from Cruise Ports into town: Cadiz, Barcelona, Marsailles

We are taking a Holland America Cruise in May, and want to know if we can get into the various cities using public transportation. We are especially interested in getting to the Alcazar Palace from the port of Cadiz, and wonder if anyone knows how this can be done using public transportation, and how long it would take,

Not real sure of the question based on the title but:

Regarding Cadiz:

Cruise port to city center is a fifteen minute walk at the most -- Cadiz is small.

There are several Alcazars in Spain; assuming you mean the one in Sevilla: it's about two hours by train. The train station is right at the port. Trains leave frequently (every hour or so, maybe a tad more) for Sevilla.

I've only done that train ride once and it was probably way before the cruise business got going. My only recent experiece in the terminal was standing around reading stuff waiting for somebody coming the other way and even that was a couple of years ago.

Regarding Barcelona:

The shore end of the cruise port facilities is right at the Columbus statue at the bottom of the Ramblas. The cruise pier itself is long, but has buses.

Regarding Marseilles

If the cruise port is where I think it is (north end of the port complex ?), it's way beyond metro range from the Vieux Port area. I would presume there is a bus; if so, the ride would be about four of five miles.

Need a little more clarity on the question. Exactly where do you want to go? We were just in Cadiz this past September off of the Rotterdam. Our experience with Holland Am is that they will always provide some form of transportation, generally bus, to the city center IF public transportation is not available at the port is not walkable. In Cadiz it was walkable. When you ask about the Alcazar Palace are you asking about the palace in Cadiz? There is a palace there but don't remember the exact name. There many Alcazars scattered across southern Spain with a famous one in Sevilla. Alcazar simply means palace or fortress so it is either Alcazar or palace -- generally not both. The most famous alcazar is in Granada and is called Alhambra -- I know, a little confusing.
