transportation from Cochem to Bernkastel-Rues

We are traveling to Europe in September 2010, and using all public transportation (trains, buses, ferries). We'll be spending 3 nights in Cochem and would like to take a day trip to Bernkastel-Kues. I'm having difficulty finding ferry schedules -- any suggestions?

I went to Berkastel-Kues from Treis-Karden, just down the river (No.) from Cochem in Nov. 2008. I took the train from Cochem to Wittlich, then the bus from Wittlich to Kues. It takes less than an hour from Cochem.

You can get schedules, including the buses, from the German Rail website. There might also be ships, but expect them to be slow and take a lot more time.

One way train from Cochem to Wittlich is €5,20/person. The bus is €4,90 each way per person. You can do everything, for up to 5 people, after 9 AM workdays, with a €28 Rheinland-Pfalz-Ticket (the Bahn says €27, but they haven't updated it in a few years).

According to the website for Bernkastel, www.bernkastel.de, there is one ship line
running between Cochem and Bernkastel. The website is in German and doesn't give a schedule for Cochem to Bernkastel, just a number to call. However, from the map, it appears that Bernkastel is about equidistant from Cochem or Trier, and it is 4¼ hrs from Bernkastel to Trier, so you should expect about 4 hours from Cochem to Bernkastel. The fare is €25 one way per person, €32 round trip per person.
