I need to get from cruise ship dco at civitiavecchia to rome fiumicino airport at 5 am. Any experience with Rome Airport Shuttle as to service and reliability. Thanks.

Just be sure that you ship docking around 3 AM so that you can get off by 5AM. Most ships do not dock that early.

John: Do you mean you will dock at 5:00 am or you must be at the airport at 5:00 am? I think it is very unusual for a cruise ship to dock so very early, at any rate, and if it does you should ensure that passengers will be permitted to disembark right away. They seldom are.

If you can schlepp your own luggage, you can depart Civitavecchia on a regional train at 05:00, change to a regional train at Ponte Galeria (20 minutes to make the connection), and arrive at Fiumicino at 06:18. The total fare is €8.70.

He is going to have a problem getting from the dock to the port entrance that early in the AM. Is anyone sure that Rome Airport shuttle will pick him up that early. I did a quick google seach and the 3 or 4 that I looked at didn't start until 7AM. Remember a shuttle expects multi passengers and not a private transfer.
