We will be flying into Paris in December. Usually pretty wiped out from a long flight from California. What is the best transportation into Paris?
thank you
The "best" would be a taxi.
Actually best is subjective. .Taxi is definately the easiest by far and will cost between 45 and 55 euros.
Fastest and cheapest may be RER , cost about 11 euros, downside is you must be able to carry your own luggage easily. For most people taxi is "best" based on ease of use. Have your hotel name written on a peice of paper, include whole address and zipcode. Handing that to driver makes any communication issue alot easier( you could mispronounce name of hotel, or hotel could have same name as others, I have stayed at Hotel Saint Pierre, but there are several of themm with similar names!) At CDG just follow signs for "Taxi" and get in proper offical taxi line, do not go with a taxi driver who randomly approaches you, offical taxis are metered and regulated. Taxis are legally allowed to charge you one euro extra over meter charge per suitcase, you are not being conned.. They may also charge extra3-4 euros for passengers over 3 .
You might want to consider a private car service. They meet you inside the terminal, the rate is a flat fee fixed in advance, and they usually cost only a little more than a taxi. We use them in Italy every trip and have always been pleased. We haven't been to Paris for quite a while and thus are not able to recommend a particular service. You might also want to check out a shared shuttle service. TC
We just returned from Paris this weekend and I HIGHLY recommend the taxi... unless cost is a major concern. We planned to arrive in Paris after 4 days of jet-lagged wedding celebations & knew we'd be totally exhausted. I agonized over transport options (taxi/RER/shuttle)for weeks, but was finally convinced by others on this helpline that taxi service was the most reliable & easy option. They were SO right! Cost for the taxi from CDG to the 6th Arr was 63E & the return ride was 65E. Both trips were during heavy rush hours (4p.m. & 8 a.m.). Both taxi drivers were very courteous, professional & really knew their way thru the heavy traffic. The taxi gate @ CDG is very easy to find (Gate 11) and we waited in line less than 5 minutes for our taxi. For our return trip to CDG, we made a reservation with the G7 taxi company (they have a special phone number for English speaking customers). Driver arrived right on time, was really professional and had a very comfortable car. Phone number (while in Paris) for the G7 English speaking customers:
