what is the easiest and cheapest way to get from the Basel Switzerland airport (in France) to the port on the Rhine River?
Bus into the Bahnhof SBB, Streetcar from there. The airport is in France, there is a bus into town. There are two cruise ship landing areas, one on each river bank, with streetcars to near either one. You can probably get off the bus before the Bahnhof and take a streetcar from there, but it's more complicated. You need to get more specific information about the location of the "port" from the cruise company. I've been in Basel, but only to change trains, not on a cruise. I've seen docks on Google maps near St. Johanns-Tor (left bank) and Kleinhünigen (right bank). For more information, see the website of the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe. There is a map of the BVB system on that site. The #50 bus comes in from the airport to Basel Bahnhof SBB. There are trams from there (#8 to Kleinhünigen and #11 to Johanns-Tor). As far as I can tell, the adult fare from the airport (zone 13) to anywhere in Basel (zone 10), including transfers, is 4,00 CHF.
