Transportation from airport to city

Are there buses or metros that will take you from the airport to the city, i.e. Barcelona and Rome airports into the city. Thanks for your help.

Virtually any airport will have some type of transportation, usually several options, to connect to the city center, public transportation, or the Rail system. Most guidebooks include that information, otherwise the website of the airport almost always has a link for ground transportation. In Europe, the major airports will have both Train/Metro and Bus, nearly every other airport at least bus. Though more expensive, Taxi and Limo service is usually available.

Karen,

Are Barcelona and Rome the only cities you're concerned with?

As the others mentioned, all airports in Europe have great transportation infrastructure for travel into the cities. Which method to use depends on which airport you're referring to.

In Rome I always prefer the Leonardo Express which travels from FCO to Roma Termini (€11 pp, about 30 minutes).

If you could indicate which airports you're interested in, I'm sure the group here can provide more specific information.

Cheers!

I always find it useful to just google "getting to and from such-and-such airport". Works every time so far.

In Barcelona there are frequent suburban train services from the airport to Sants, Passeig de Gracia, and Francia stations in the centre: check on a map to see which is most convenient to where you are staying (if you need to use the Metro be warned that Francia station does not have convenient Metro links). There are also buses but these are more subject to traffic.
