After long night flight we have decided to take a taxi or car to our hotel instead of trying to tackle the train system.

You could also check with your hotel to see if they can arrange a car for you. We had our B&B in Rome do that for us and it only costs 45 E. They even worked with us when our flight was delayed 3 hours. A hired car is a great way to go, fast and hassle free.
