Transportation FCO to hotel

I am booked on Aug 20 Heart of Italy tour. Landing at FCO at 0800. Anyone else arriving around that time that would consider meeting up at the airport to share a taxi to Hotel Museum? Traveling alone and not totally confident navigating bus/train/Metro options. Thanks!

I believe the Taxis have a flat rate of €48 to Rome, which is a bit pricey for one person. A less expensive alternative would be to take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini (€14 PP, 32 minutes with no delays due to traffic) and then a Taxi to your hotel (there's a large taxi stand right outside the front door of the station). If your hotel is in the Termini area, you may be able to walk.

If you decide to use the Leonardo Express, post another note here as there are a few important points to be aware of.

If you do decided to take a taxi, make sure to take an official taxi. Official cabs are white, have a taxi sign mounted on the roof, have an insignia on the driver's door reading "Comune di Roma," have an official number and a meter. You want an official cab. Also, there may be men, standing inside the arrivals area offering to take you in to Rome, bypass them they are not official cab drivers. Walk outside and find the taxi rank. Do same for Termini Station, too.

Edit: Check Here for photos of official Rome Cabs.

If you are successful in meeting up with another person or couple, consider a private car service. After a long flight, some jet lag, not being familiar with the area, there is nothing better than having your private driver meet you inside the terminal and whisk you to your hotel. No fending off the unofficial cabs, waiting in the regular taxi line, or just having a "lost" feeling. It is not the cheapest way, but it is definitely the best. We can not say enough good things about Rome Cabs. It is a private car service (not a cab company) and only cost about 10 Euro more than a regular taxi. We always use them and have always been very pleased. Go to romecabs.com and see what you think. We usually send an email and they answer us with a quote within 24 hours. You do have to pay cash (Euros) and the end of the journey but not in advance.
