What is the best way to get from Venice to Normandy?

  1. Take the direct night train from Venezia Santa Lucia to Paris Bercy. Take Metro line 14 from Bercy to St Lazare. Take the train from St Lazare to either Caen or Bayeux.

  2. Fly either easyJet from Marco Polo to CDG or Myair from Marco Polo to Orly. Take public transportation (there are several options) to St. Lazare. Take the train as above.

Depending upon the time of day, you may need to change trains in Caen to get to Bayeux. All direct trains stop in Caen before going on to Bayeux.

Thanks you. Have you been to Venice recently?
Favorite (quiet) hotel? Also, do you know of any good hotel in Caen or Bayeaux?

Thanks.

You're welcome. While I'm familiar with the train systems in France and Italy, I haven't been to either Normandy or Venice so I can't advise you on places to stay. I'm sure others will chime in with recommendations.

There are lots of great places to stay in Bayeux. Here was our favorite:

Great, king size bed, giant bathroom, beautiful antique furniture through the whole house and truly one of the most delightful breakfasts I have ever had. The owner doesn't speak a lot of English, but she is charming and made us feel very welcome.

Try these other sites too if you want to look over some other places.
